Protect the Patina

The nonstick properties of a cast iron skillet don’t just happen. It’s 80% cooking technique, and 20% seasoning that has been built up meal after meal. But that patina doesn’t happen by accident. You need a good maintenance routine to protect it. Rubbing oil into the iron after each use helps condition the piece, and the oils you use matter.

That’s where the First Coast Iron Maintenance Wax comes into play. It’s a blend of pure, refined grape seed and avocado oils, suspended in beeswax. These high smoke point oils polymerize and develop the protective layers, while the beeswax — which is naturally hydrophobic — repels water, protecting the iron from rust.

The FCI Maintenance Wax formula has been updated with beeswax locally-sourced from Bee Hill Farm in Saint Augustine, Florida. Same great product and performance, now with sustainable ingredients. Using local beeswax ensures a pure product, avoids industrial bleaching, supports a small business, and retains natural honey-notes with beneficial micro-ingredients. Plus, it will make your kitchen smell incredible!

Protect the patina, and your cast iron cookware will outlast every nonstick pan in your cabinet.

Direction for Use: Apply with a lint-free cloth (available in our Cast Iron Care Kits) to clean, dry cookware and buff off excess before storing. Can be used to season freshly stripped cast iron. Also recommended for conditioning carbon steel, wood cutting boards, and wood utensils.

2 oz. container will last 4-6 months, depending on frequency of use
