Antique Wagner #8 Skillet

Wagner Ware Winner

Wagner Manufacturing Company began manufacturing cast iron cookware in America in 1891 and closed their main foundry in 1999. This style of antique skillet was produced between 1920-1924. Right away you'll notice the lighter weight compared to modern cast iron, and the factory milling marks reveal the craftsmanship found during the Golden Age of Cast Iron. The signifcant outer heat ring and size number rather than catalog number on the bottom of the skillet make it desirable among collectors of antique cookware.

This skillet has been carefully stripped to bare iron, had rust removed, been thoroughly cleaned and inspected before 4 rounds of seasoning were applied. This created a foundation for the skillet, making a durable cooking surface that is ready to cook with as soon as it arrives. With regular use and proper maintenance, the seasoning will continue to develop over time, making it a future heirloom.

This antique #8 skillet is perfect for:

  • Baking cornbread or dessert
  • Frying eggs or potatoes
  • Roasting from stovetop to oven, no switching pans
  • Sauteing vegetables
  • Searing steaks and porkchops

Compatible with most cooking ranges including electric, gas, grill, oven, and even a campfire. (Not recommended for induction stoves because of the heat ring which will impend the ability to make contact with the range.) This vintage skillet may have minor casting flaws and imperfections due to the method of manufacturing and by nature of age; they are normal and do not negatively impact performance. No detectable spin or wobbling. Please review all photos for details before finalizing your purchase.
